Blockchain Efficiently Improves the Work-flow of Courts,Embracing a Promising Future!
2021.05.21

Recently, Legal Daily reported that after introducing the “blockchain”technology, the Guangzhou Intermediate People’s Court has developed an efficient and convenient platform “AOL”(empowered by the blockchain technology, pre-storage and post-verification of electronic data can be done all on line through this platform), which has effectively solved the miscellaneous problems occurred when parties from Hong Kong and Macau entrust litigation to the agents.

Earlier on, Ms. Li's case has already been inquired in court. However, due to the formalities of the attorney's authorization is partially missing, additional materials need to be submitted. Considering Ms. Li’s poor health and inconvenience to go back and forth from Hong Kong to Guangzhou during the epidemic, Mr. Sun Yuanfeng, the judge of the Guangzhou Intermediate People's Court, proposed the “AOL” platform for Ms. Li and her attorney to complete the authorization formalities. On the verification day, Ms. Li successfully completed all the formalities on“AOL” platform.

After interviewing, reporters from Legal Daily have found that in recent years, besides the Guangzhou Intermediate People's Court, courts across the country have also introduced "blockchain" technology to carry out high tech judicial trials, thus greatly shortening the work-flow, improving the trial efficiency and increasing public satisfaction.

It is reported that electronic data requires four steps before a judicial trial, which are "generation-storage-transmission-submission". Any issue occurred in any of these steps will be very difficult to be verified; Luckily, with the features like decentralization, non-tampering and encrypted storage, blockchain can ensure that all evidences provided during all the steps of electronic data are authentic and credible!

In fact, considering that the deficiencies of electronic data such as virtuality and vulnerability of being tampered with, as early as 2018, the Beijing Internet Court established an electronic evidence platform, Tianping Blockchain, based on "blockchain" technology. The staff of the comprehensive office from the Beijing Internet Court also taught reporters how it works: when users generate or receive the electronic evidences on the Tianping Blockchain, it will conduct the processing in a timely manner and broadcast it to the trusted alliance chain network. After the data is verified and stored, it will return back the one and only storage number; When there is a lawsuit, Users can submit the electronic evidence and the storage number to the Beijing Internet Court litigation platform; Where the authenticity, completeness and storage time of the data will be verified automatically through querying the evidence detail to the alliance chain network with the lawsuit number.

Mr. Wu Shenkuo, the executive director of the International Center for Cyber Rule of Law of Beijing Normal University and deputy director of the Research Center of the Internet Society of China, told reporters that "blockchain" technology has been applied multiple times in actual judicial practice. Features such as multi-party supervision, non-tampering, and easy traceability realize a more simplified work-flow for courts, further improving trial efficiency and judicial credibility. Reporters found that relevant platforms based on "blockchain" technology sprout up in many courts nationwide, such as in Beijing, Guangdong, Zhejiang and Sichuan. Undoubtedly, there is a bright future ahead for Blockchain!
